The first time Jessica Yost, founder of 15:30 Project, travelled to Open Arms-Home for Children in South Africa the statistics were that every thirty seconds a child was orphaned by AIDS. Each of the 31 children who had currently called Open Arms home had been orphaned or abandoned by the AIDS pandemic. These 31 children represent a total of 15 Minutes and 30 Seconds of the World's AIDS pandemic orphan victims. Since that first visit to Open Arms, there are now 57 children currently living at Open Arms, but those first 31 children have certainly impacted our lives in more ways than one. As Jess says, "15 Minutes and 30 seconds changed my life."
